Millie goes to Savannah

We all took a road trip to Savannah this past weekend for our friends, Cassie and Kevin Beckwith's baby shower. Well, Kevin said there was no way he was going to another baby shower, so I guess you could say it was Cassie's shower. This was Millie's first trip to Savannah (but not the last).

We left the house Saturday morning around 9 am, while Jacade was complaining that we had so much stuff, just to spend the one night. Hello, that's what happens when you have a baby in tow. Must have the stroller, a pack-n-play, baby clothes and plenty of them (never know when they are going to have an accident), our clothes, toys, books, diapers & wipes, and on and on and on.

We arrived in Savannah around 12:30 - not a bad trip down at all. Millie slept for about an hour while Jacade drove. Thank goodness for daddies. Is it just a policy that most men usually do most of the driving? Maybe they need to feel in control! I wasn't complaining!

We hung out at Kevin and Cassie's house - Millie had her lunch bottle - and then walked around their house exploring and going up and down the steps. Wow, she loves the stairs. And they had plenty of them. But their house is gorgeous - beautifully decorated and inspirational. I saw ideas that I wanted to do in our house. And Cassie is a painter (artist) and has many of her creations all over the house. Sometimes I wish I could paint.

We then drove out to Cassie's baby shower - and Millie STAYED with Daddy! Kevin and the boys, and Millie, went out to Kevin's parents' house. The girls had a great time at the shower - Cassie got so much stuff. But surpisingly didn't get that many diapers. Oh well. But she has some talented friends that gave her some very special homemade gifts. There's just something about a gift made from the heart. And the food was so good - sorry Cassie that you couldn't enjoy the spiked punch!

Three hours later and it was time to meet up with the boys. Kevin was cooking boiled shrimp, corn, and some rolls, out at his parents' house. It was just a small get-together with family and friends. And when we arrived, Danny, Kevin's cousin said, "Someone missed their mommy." And I said, "Was it Jacade?" Millie didn't take a nap the whole time and was, needless to say, very frazzled and cranky (as was Daddy). There was just too much to do, too much to see, all in a new place. So we ate dinner - which was unbelievably fabulous - and had a delectable dessert - thanks to Nancy. And headed home - everyone was exhausted.

Millie finally went to sleep but then woke up when we got home. She had a hard time going to sleep but she finally did. We all woke up Sunday morning and relaxed a bit. Then we got ready for church - Kevin sings in the choir. Jacade didn't go - he drove around Savannah taking pictures. But Millie went in the nursery and did really well.

We then went out to eat at Soho - so yummy! And then me, Jacade and Millie left and walked around taking pictures - it didn't take Millie very long and she was out. Got back to their house and packed up everything and got on the road.

Millie didn't really eat that great the whole trip. I don't know what the deal was. She had plenty of milk though. Hopefully she can get back on track.

But Cassie - this post is partly for you! And I'll try my best to post more often. Millie is changing and doing so much every day. And I'll have to post some pictures from the trip when I download some photos.

Can't wait for Baby Girl Beckwith to arrive. She will be here before we know it and will change the world! We love y'all!
