Just random thoughts

Just wanted to let you know of some random things that Millie does these days.....

After she gets dressed in the morning, she likes to go to my bathroom to put on her "makeup." We pretend with the concealer and eyeliner. But she does put the eyeshadow on (on her cheeks) and blush and then she puts the powder on.

She also likes to help me blow-dry my hair, even to the point that she has to hold the hairdryer and constantly asks me (when we've just begun), "Are you all-done?" "No, Millie, not yet." It's still fun though.

And she can now name some of the kids in her class - there are 9 total. She was telling me last night some of their names, "Anna, Sydney, Ryleigh, Natalie, and Grody" (although his name is Brody). She keeps telling me that she is going to go to Anna's house this day. But it's nice that she now has some friends her age.

She is also coming home singing new songs she is learning at school. Like at the dinner table, "A,B,C,D,E,F,G, thank you God for feeding me."

New babysitter today

Well, it's Millie's first day at her new babysitter's house. It is actually two girls that keep kids together. I hope it will work out. They already keep 2 2-yr.olds and one of the girls has a 6-mo.old daughter. Their names are Ashley and Amanda. Millie and I went to Ashley's house yesterday so she could meet her and Millie didn't want to go home. All these new books and toys and stuff. Ashley will pick Millie up from school and then she will go there all day on Fridays.

Speaking of school, so far I am doing really well in my online classes at Central Georgia Technical College. It's rewarding having a goal in mind and working towards that goal. I'm glad that everything fell into place for this opportunity.

Yesterday, January 21, me, Millie and Nana went on Millie's first school field trip. Destination: Imagine It! Children's Museum in downtown Atlanta. We arrived a little early (do you know how hard it is for a 2-yr. old to wait). Some of the other students from her class started to finally arrive and we were able to get our tickets.

We all had a great time although there were just too many kids there to really enjoy yourself. Kids running and darting in and out everywhere. It was overwhelming. But I think Millie liked everything and she was pooped by 12 o'clock. She played at just about every station and went back to the cave several times. She played dress-up and played in the "dirt" and went fishing. She also went to the grocery store to do some shopping and then took her goods to the kitchen to cook. She loved the little grocery cart too!

It would be fun to go back on the weekend when maybe there aren't quite as many kids. But we all survived... Thanks Nana for coming too. And Nana, we would love to see your pictures too!

Progress Report: Millie's 1st week

We saw Millie's teacher last night at church and asked how she did last week. She said that she did great, that we had done a great job with her and that she was so sweet. So she has apparently adjusted well.

On a side note.... The three of us were walking to Sunday School yesterday morning and as Jacade was walking into the Butler Building (where the cafeteria is) Millie asked, "Is Daddy going to lunch?" I just laughed and said no.

My little cook

Millie loves to help me do anything in the kitchen, like baking cookies and muffins, or helping me cook dinner.

For Christmas, Aunt Lexi surprised Millie with her own apron. So now she can cook in the kitchen and not mess up her clothes!

One of Millie's new dresses

For Christmas, Mops and Pops bought Millie two new dresses/outfits and they are so adorable. Here is one of them and I think Millie looks so grown up.

Millie's 1st sleepover party

On New Year's Day, Millie had her first-ever Sleepover Party. We invited Bonita and Jesse and their two kids, Sara and Will, over to eat New Year's Day dinner. We ate a delicious dinner cooked by Mawt Maw. Then when Bonita and Jesse left, Sara and Will spent the night.

They both played with Millie in her room. We then got them in their pj's and made a big pallet on the floor for the 3 kids to lie down to watch a movie. Mawt Maw rented a movie about a polar bear named Knut. They got a little restless during the movie but managed to watch the whole thing.

Then Mawt Maw made a pallet in her living room for them to sleep, including Millie. She then read some books and they went to bed. Millie was the last one asleep and the first one awake, but she didn't wake Sara or Will.

They then ate breakfast and played some more until it was time to go home. I think Millie really enjoyed it.

More Christmas pictures

Millie received a lot of special items from the whole family, as did her mommy and daddy! Here are some more pictures of Christmas morning and Christmas with Nana and Papa!

Christmas Morning

Jacade was sick over the Christmas holidays and so he was up super early on Christmas morning. I got up around 6:30 a.m. and we sat by the fire anxiously waiting for Millie to wake up.

She finally got up around 8 a.m. and came into the living room to see that Santa had come and gone, had eaten her chocolate chip cookies and drank the milk and had left presents. But she was a little disappointed because she wanted to see Santa for herself!

She then walked over to the tree and discovered something fun! It was her new tricycle with a helmet. She immediately put on the helmet and got on the bike and tried to ride it. It took her a few tries to get the hang of it; to figure out the pedals and to steer. But now she's a natural, riding all over the house.

MiMi & PaPaw

MiMi & PaPaw came down for our annual Christmas party, to enjoy the awesome chili and desserts. This year, we had a Chili Cook-Off and it was so much fun. Uncle Eldon took top honors this year, with Rebecca coming in 2nd place and Caprice coming in 3rd place. It was a lot of fun to just get people involved and to try other people's creation.

The day that MiMi and PaPaw were supposed to go home, we got some pictures (or attempted) before they went home.

Christmas dress

This is one of the dresses that Millie wore for the Christmas season this year. And unfortunately, this is the only picture that I took.

Millie and the dogs

Now, don't be jumping to conclusions with this post, but I had to put it on here because it was so funny.

One evening we were sitting down for dinner and halfway through dinner, Millie got out of her chair and wouldn't eat. But Jacade started feeding her while she was standing beside him and then sat down with the rest of the dogs, "begging" for food. It was really funny, but I promise, we don't feed Millie on the floor.

Millie & Ryan

Jacade, Millie and I went to North Carolina in November to celebrate Thanksgiving with Mops and Pops, Aunt Lexi and Uncle Chris and Ryan. We all had a great time and it was nice to be able to spend time with my mom and sister as well as Ryan and Millie playing together.

Here are some Christmas pictures that we took of Ryan and Millie. They both look so grown up.

Trip to Savannah

I am backtracking a little because I am behind with posts and updates.

Back in November, Uncle Eldon and Aunt Rita treated us, as well as some other family members, to Savannah for Jacade's birthday. We had a great time, ate at Jacade's favorite restaurant - The Crab Shack, and went to the beach at Tybee Island. Millie had a great time playing with her cousin, Sara, and we even were able to sneak in a few minutes to visit with our friends, Kevin and Cassie.

Here are some photos from that trip.
