Millie finally drinks from a sippy cup

I saw on my friend, Carolyn's blog that her daughter, Lily was drinking from a sippy cup. But what was neat about the cup was that it was a small snack cup with a sippy cup lid.

I have been trying for a couple of weeks now to get Millie to drink from a cup, but she just hasn't been interested. So I came home yesterday and put a little bit of milk in the snack cup, but a lid on it and gave it to her.

GUESS WHAT? SHE DRANK MILK FROM THE CUP!!!! I don't know why or maybe I am not worried why - but she did it. I also put some water in it, but she wasn't too sure about that - she just wanted more milk. So I am going to try that again today. I'll have to take a picture of her drinking from it and post it on here. I praised her for drinking all of it, so maybe she will get the idea.

Let's go swimming!

Millie went swimming over the long weekend. Her Papa Stone gave her a pool for her birthday, so Jacade blew it up on Sunday and we slathered the sunscreen on and put her Mermaid bathing suit on, and let her dive in. She had a blast! It was like a giant bathtub!

Millie helps plant the garden

This is one of my favorite (recent) photos of Millie.
We were playing outside in the yard a couple of weekends ago.
She helped us plant some vegetables and fruit - she even helps her daddy water the garden.

Millie rocks in her rocking chair

I haven't updated this blog in awhile. I've been busy, but what have I been doing? Well, I've being working everyday, and then trying to help Jacade at his office (fun, fun!) And we've just been watching Millie grow every day. She is just so amazing.

She now knows how to climb up in the rocking chair and rock all by herself. It's so sweet.

I just had to post Millie's birthday invitation. I thought the saying was so adorable.

Pray for good weather on Saturday. I know Millie is going to have a lot of fun!

Millie turns a year old!!!

Jacade and I were talking on Tuesday night about how we were getting everything ready to go to the hospital that night, a year ago, b/c I was scheduled to be induced at 5:30 a.m. on May 7. But God and Millie had other plans; that my water broke at about 2:45 a.m. and we were off to the hospital shortly thereafter. I had told Jacade that morning that I thought that my water had broke or I had peed in my pants. Glad it was the first thought. And my mom is too. Millie was naturally born on her birthday and my cousin's too. So Millie is the third generation born on May 7.

So Camille Skye Long "Miss Millie" was born at 1:20 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2007, weighing in at a healthy 8 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 inches long. She was a good sized baby. And the delivery went well, I think. Of course looking back, you really can't remember how painful it was. My doctors and nurses were great, as was Jacade. He was very supportive. And he was just as blown away as I was.

Now, a year later and it's all be fun. Lots of lost sleep, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Millie is so smart and fun to be around. She just makes me smile!!! She gives great kisses and is learning, as of today (May 8) to blow kisses. She likes the outdoors and loves music. She dances and shakes her one leg like Elvis, and waves her hands in the air and rocks back and forth. It is so funny. She loves to look at books and play with balls. This morning, she even said, "Book."

I went to Smyrna yesterday at Nana and Papa's house and we had a little birthday party for her. It was her first taste of birthday cake. And she loved it - imagine that! She had a mini cupcake with whipped cream frosting. But she was very dainty about eating the frosting and finally dug in to the cake. And we only gave her one, which was smart, b/c she was wired. And I'm glad that we had the party mid-afternoon instead of last night. I think she enjoyed everything though - who wouldn't!!!

Millie had a little scare Wednesday

Wednesday night, Millie developed a rash on various parts of her body that would come and go, and appear in other places. I took her to the doctor on Monday and she was diagnosed with an ear infection. She was given an antibiotic of Augmentin and she started taking that Monday afternoon. By Wednesday, she had this rash and Jacade and I drove up to Smyrna that night to check her out.
Nana and I decided to take Millie to Wellstar Hospital and it ended up being an allergic reaction to the Augmentin. So now she is taking Omnicef and is doing a lot better. She is back to herself again.
It was quite a scare, but I feel a little more relaxed now. God had His hand protecting her the entire time.
And I decided to throw Millie a little birthday party, next Saturday. So stay tuned for the details, and the pictures too!
