No Posts since May
I want to apologize for not keeping this blog updated of Millie's ins and outs. She has had a busy summer....swimming lessons and playing, and visiting family! I will post some pictures soon (I have two more weeks of school myself, then a small break, so I will try to get caught up at that point).

Where's Millie?
Okay, Millie really isn't hidden on the bed but this is what her bed looks like and what she insists on sleeping with every night - all of her stuffed animals. Yikes!

First day of 3K
Today, August 3, 2010 was Millie's first day of 3K at Rock Springs Christian Academy. I had a hard time getting her out of bed but she finally came around. She then got dressed in her uniform (wow, that was nice!) and then I had to take some pictures. She was ready to go.
We arrived in time for she and I to walk into her classroom. Although she had already eaten breakfast, she wanted to go eat again. So we walked to the lunchroom and she sat with her friend, Abigayle.
Then it was back to the classroom where several of the children were crying (mostly boys) which then made Millie start whimpering. I reassured her that she was fine and I was out the door.
I'm anxious and curious to see how her first day of school was. I know she did great! There are 15 kids total in her room - 7 boys and 8 girls!

BIG Milestone
I've been hesitant to post this because I didn't want to jinx anything but for about 3 weeks now, Millie has been sleeping through the night with just her panties on (knock on wood). Yes, that's right; NO more pull-ups or diapers at night. She did have one accident while she was out of town with Jacade last week. But she has been doing real well. Going to the bathroom before she goes to bed and then again when she gets up in the morning. I think we've finally crossed the hurdle!! NO MORE DIAPERS or PULL-UPS! That will be a considerable savings.
And she starts back to school on Tuesday, August 3. We are going to her Open House this Friday to meet her new teacher and hopefully be able to get a few more uniform pieces at the Uniform Swap. We still need to buy her socks and shoes. And we will pick her backpack up tomorrow; it's getting monogrammed with her name and a cute little princess. (will post pictures later).

Someone is a big girl!
For Millie's 3rd birthday (I can't believe I am saying that she is already three years old now) she received a "big girl" backpack from Mops and Pops. The backpack should last for quite some time and it's nice for her to have her own bag.

I want to be like you, Mom
Millie said those words Tuesday evening before she went to bed. She was referring to the fact that she wanted to wear panties instead of a diaper at bedtime, just like me. I was a little nervous about it, but she went to the bathroom 3 times before she went to sleep and I put a towel on the bed, just in case. She woke up Wednesday morning, dry, but didn't want to go to the bathroom. She finally went to the bathroom though (after a little crying and screaming).
Wednesday evening, same scenario. She used the bathroom several times and woke up dry again this morning.
I am super excited about that! It's time anyways. She will be 3 years old next Friday!!!

We now have new names
Instead of Millie calling me (Rebecca) "Mommy", she now calls me "Mom." She'll say, "Mom, can you come here?" Or, "Mom, I want a peanut butter and jelly sandwich."
And she calls Jacade, "Dada", "Dad", or "Dadaw". The "Dadaw" is from a book we recently read titled, "Somebody Stole My Tooth" by Tom Birdseye.

Where is Jesus?
Saturday morning, Millie went with Mawt Maw to see her cousins, Sara and Will, play basketball. On their way to Jackson Mawt Maw got a little lost. She called several people but no one was answering their phones (incl. us). She and Millie had a conversation and it went something like this:
Mawt Maw: "Oh, dear. I don't know which way we are going."
Millie: "Oh my, Millie and Mawt Maw are lost. Millie Bear and Mawt Maw Bear are lost."
MM: "Let's see if we can find our way. Hopefully God will help us find our way."
M: "I pray God to find the right way."
MM: "I think we found the right way."
M: "I say a prayer for you."
MM: "Yes, you did. Thank you. We found the right way."
M: "Yea...... God is in my heart and Jesus is in my heart too!"
What a great memory. Millie and I are now working on more scriptures too. I talked with her teacher and she said that they do a lot of praying, which I have noticed Millie doing more of. It's awesome!

Chore Chart introduced

Last night, I introduced Millie to her new Chore Chart. I mentioned it to her last week that she was going to have to start doing some chores and that once she completed them, she could choose a sticker for each chore. So on the way home from Ms. Ashley's yesterday I told her that I had her Chore Chart ready and told her the four chores she would be responsible for:
1. Make your bed
2. Help with laundry
3. Feed the dog (a.k.a Bella)
4. Pick up your toys
As we drove home, she actually repeated 3 of the 4 chores. We got home and I sat her down and showed her the chart. I then asked if she wanted to go ahead and start so she could pick some stickers? She did. She wanted to make her bed first, and asked for my help. She made up the bed very good. I asked if she wanted to choose a sticker now and she declined, saying that she wanted to finish all the chores first. Surprise!
She then picked up her toys in her room and I helped put her books on the bookshelf. Then she fed Bella and she headed towards the laundry room; she was going to help with the laundry. I didn't have any in the washer/dryer but I did have some washcloths I needed her to fold. She got those, took them to the dryer, put them in and took them all back out, and folded all of them. Then she carried the ones that belonged in her bathroom and put them in the drawer. Easy enough.
We then sat down and she chose the stickers she wanted. We put the chart low on the refrigerator. We'll work on those chores again tonight. It was really nice because there wasn't any arguing or begging her to do things. She just did them. Hope she keeps it up!

Something funny Millie did yesterday
Well, we finished our 21-day fast with flying colors! We ate some really great food, tried new recipes and started good, new habits. We also lost weight...always a plus! And we had two miracles because of it...Jacade got a truck and a job!
So after church yesterday, we all went out to Applebee's to have some "meat." Jacade and I had steaks, Debbie had chicken and Millie had a cheeseburger (although she wasn't on the fast).
Millie had halfway finished her cheeseburger and decided she would save the rest for later. So she pulled the snap on the front of her overalls to get to the pocket and just slipped that bad boy in. We were all just sitting there, watching and waiting.
We did get her to take it out so we could wrap it up in a napkin, and she put it right back. And when we got home, I noticed the napkin was sitting on the coffee table, empty. I asked her where the burger was, and she said, "In my belly." Well, okay then. I guess she was resourceful in figuring out a great place to put her burger. And I'm thankful that she ate it too.

Just random thoughts
Just wanted to let you know of some random things that Millie does these days.....
After she gets dressed in the morning, she likes to go to my bathroom to put on her "makeup." We pretend with the concealer and eyeliner. But she does put the eyeshadow on (on her cheeks) and blush and then she puts the powder on.
She also likes to help me blow-dry my hair, even to the point that she has to hold the hairdryer and constantly asks me (when we've just begun), "Are you all-done?" "No, Millie, not yet." It's still fun though.
And she can now name some of the kids in her class - there are 9 total. She was telling me last night some of their names, "Anna, Sydney, Ryleigh, Natalie, and Grody" (although his name is Brody). She keeps telling me that she is going to go to Anna's house this day. But it's nice that she now has some friends her age.
She is also coming home singing new songs she is learning at school. Like at the dinner table, "A,B,C,D,E,F,G, thank you God for feeding me."

New babysitter today
Well, it's Millie's first day at her new babysitter's house. It is actually two girls that keep kids together. I hope it will work out. They already keep 2 2-yr.olds and one of the girls has a 6-mo.old daughter. Their names are Ashley and Amanda. Millie and I went to Ashley's house yesterday so she could meet her and Millie didn't want to go home. All these new books and toys and stuff. Ashley will pick Millie up from school and then she will go there all day on Fridays.
Speaking of school, so far I am doing really well in my online classes at Central Georgia Technical College. It's rewarding having a goal in mind and working towards that goal. I'm glad that everything fell into place for this opportunity.

MiMi & PaPaw
MiMi & PaPaw came down for our annual Christmas party, to enjoy the awesome chili and desserts. This year, we had a Chili Cook-Off and it was so much fun. Uncle Eldon took top honors this year, with Rebecca coming in 2nd place and Caprice coming in 3rd place. It was a lot of fun to just get people involved and to try other people's creation.
The day that MiMi and PaPaw were supposed to go home, we got some pictures (or attempted) before they went home.

Millie's 2nd day of school
Today, it was a little easier getting Millie up and ready this morning, although she did balk at putting on the uniform at first. But then I reminded her that she was going to be wearing a jumper today and she quickly changed her mind. She has to wear a uniform on Wednesdays because they have Chapel from 8:30-8:50 a.m.
On the breakfast menu was a Pop Tart and Milk and I didn't think Millie would eat that, nor did it seem very healthy, so I made her some oatmeal with honey and she ate it all up before we left.
And we dropped her off in the drop-off line and she went in with no problems.
Her teachers said that she did well yesterday, but Millie said, "Ms. Nicole said we weren't listening." So we explained to Millie that she needed to listen so she can learn more things. She came home with a stack of papers she had worked on, like coloring, tracing and letters.

Millie's 1st day of school
Tuesday, January 12, 2010, was Millie's first day of school at Rock Springs Academy in Milner, GA. She is attending the K2 program 3 days a week from 8-12.
We arrived this morning around 7:35 a.m. and were able to take Millie to breakfast. If she gets there at 7:30 then she can have breakfast. On the menu was buttered toast, cheese grits and milk or juice. She tried the grits but wasn't crazy about them so we got a banana for her so at least she would have something in her system. But she was just so preoccupied with watching all of the other kids there, that she couldn't focus to eat.
Then we walked her down to her classroom and all the kids were waiting in the hallway. We saw some kids that are there on Sunday mornings and some new ones too. Her teacher, Ms. Nicole, walked up and said good morning to her and then asked one of the little girls, Natalie, if Millie could sit with her, and Millie went right over and sat down. Nicole was impressed and excited about that (no whining or crying). Then we told her that she was potty-trained and she was excited about that too. We told her bye and gave her a kiss and as we were walking out, she yelled, "Bye."
It was very easy. I can't believe that she is starting to school. And we felt very welcome there. The good thing is that we already to go to church there so we know a lot of the people. But it was nice for people to walk up to Millie and say, "I heard that you are starting school here today. We are so glad to have you." It's just comforting for a parent, I think, knowing that so many people love your child.
On Wednesdays, Millie will have to wear a uniform because they go to Chapel. So we picked out a navy blue jumper to see if it will fit. If it won't, we will just have to get her one. And they said that she could just wear a white turtleneck tomorrow (which we already have). I will definitely take a picture and post it tomorrow.

Say a prayer for Millie
She has been sick for a week now. Jacade took her to the doctor last Friday and they told her that she just had a cold. She was able to get the FluMist. And she now weighs 32 lbs. and is 36 in. tall.
But since Monday, she has been running a fever. It goes from 99.5 to 101.9 all throughout the day. It was 99.2 this morning so hopefully we are getting towards the end.
Just please say a little prayer for a quick recovery for her (and for her parents - we've been getting up every 4 hours to check her temp and give her medicine).

Mischievous...
Millie has figured out that if she wants something bad enough, she will just take matters into her own hands, drag a chair over to the counter, climb up on the chair, then up onto the counter and into the cabinet!
