What Millie said.....

Just wanted to record what Millie said the other night; it was too funny!
Mawt Maw was holding her and told her, "Millie, I'm going to eat you all up!"
And Millie said, "No, no, then Mommy and Daddy wouldn't have Millie."
How cute is that?

Say a prayer for Millie

She has been sick for a week now. Jacade took her to the doctor last Friday and they told her that she just had a cold. She was able to get the FluMist. And she now weighs 32 lbs. and is 36 in. tall.

But since Monday, she has been running a fever. It goes from 99.5 to 101.9 all throughout the day. It was 99.2 this morning so hopefully we are getting towards the end.

Just please say a little prayer for a quick recovery for her (and for her parents - we've been getting up every 4 hours to check her temp and give her medicine).

Our Halloween Pumpkins

Instead of carving pumpkins this year, we put stickers on them - well, Millie did! We spent a few minutes decorating our pumpkins.

At the pumpkin patch

One Friday afternoon when Jacade was keeping Millie, they came up and had lunch with me and we went to the Pumpkin Patch at the church up the street from my office. Although it was raining, I got a few good pictures of Millie for her 3rd Halloween.

Salt Dough

I mixed some salt dough for Millie to play with one Saturday afternoon in October and needless to say, she had a lot of fun...and made a BIG MESS!

Mischievous...

Millie has figured out that if she wants something bad enough, she will just take matters into her own hands, drag a chair over to the counter, climb up on the chair, then up onto the counter and into the cabinet!

Halloween!

One morning, I had set out my clothes to wear that day. I was going to get Millie's clothes together for her to wear that day also, but she decided that she was going to wear my clothes instead. After she got dressed, I thought it would make a perfect Halloween outfit. But on Halloween, she was not interested at all in dressing up, so she went as herself. At least I was able to get a few pictures of her dressed up like.....MOMMY!

Millie dresses herself

Don't you just love it when your child takes it upon themselves to get dressed? You never know what the outcome will be but you know they have some satisfaction from doing it themselves. This was one of those days.

Millie loves to cook

One afternoon in October after church, Millie decided that she wanted to help Daddy cook lunch/brunch. We had scrambled eggs with cheese.

Millie goes fishing

One day in October Millie said that she wanted to go fishing. So we got all geared up and went out to the pond. Of course, we didn't catch anything and she didn't stay interested for very long, but I got some good pictures.

Millie cuts the grass

Well, not really. But she does like to ride on the riding lawnmower with her daddy and pretend to cut the grass.

Uploading pictures

I've been horrible about uploading new and recent pictures of Millie. I guess I've been a little busy! So I'm going to overload you with some new pictures of Millie from the past 2 months.

Reverse Psychology

Do you think it is wrong to use Reverse Psychology? I have been using that a little with Millie lately and it's been working. For instance, I have tried to get her to use the bathroom on several occasions and she says no. So then I said, "Let's see if you cannot use the bathroom." And she runs to the bathroom, laughing all the way, sits up there and uses it.

Or this morning when I tried to get her dressed and she resisted. I said, "Let's see if you can't put on your clothes." And she got dressed.

And the other night, she wanted to read the 12 little Christmas books she got from Mops. She pulled all the books out and after I finished reading them, didn't want to put them back in. So I said to her, "Millie, I can't remember how to put these books in the case. Can you show me how to do it?" And she did it, no problem!

Role Playing

Last night, Millie was trying to tell Jacade something as he was walking into the bedroom (and not paying attention) and Millie kept saying, "I'm talking to you. I'm talking to you." Like, stop walking and pay attention to me while I'm talking to you!

And then when I was getting her ready for bed, she told me to stay on the couch while she went to brush her teeth. She said, "Stay here. I do by myself. You hear me? Say yes ma'am." And I've been trying to work real hard with her about using her manners, so she was just repeating me, I guess.

IT'S OFFICIAL......

As of the end of 29 months, beginning of 30 months - MILLIE IS POTTY-TRAINED!!!! She now only needs a diaper when she naps or sleeps at night. And even if we have no panties clean and she has to wear a diaper, she always goes in the bathroom, takes off the diaper, uses the bathroom and then we have to put the diaper back on.

This past weekend we went to Savannah to celebrate Jacade's birthday and I only used 2 diapers on her all weekend, including the traveling back and forth. I put a pull-up on for the ride down/back and she went to the bathroom every time we stopped.

She always says, "I do like Mommy."

Millie asked her first "why?" this morning

Jacade and Millie had to take me to work this morning because Jacade's truck is broken (as of yesterday). Millie noticed that the sun was up, but that the moon was also up. And I've told her that when the sun comes up, the moon goes down, and vice versa. So she looked over at the moon and said, "The moon is up. But the sun is up. Why is the moon up too?" And Jacade tried to explain to her about the earth being on a different axis. And she was fine with that.

But it's funny that she is now starting to really comprehend things that we tell her. And she is just so hungry for knowledge. I know this is just the beginning of all the "why's".

She also said this morning while she was eating her Cheerios in the car, "Y'all want some?" OMG, she just said "y'all!"

Millie's first trip to the Dentist!!!

Today (11/4) was Millie's first trip ever to the Dentist. Jacade took her this morning at 9:30 a.m. He told me that when he arrived, there was a book called, "Dora goes to the dentist," and he quickly read it to her, showing her all the different tools they would be using.

When they were called back, Millie hopped right into the chair. They leaned her chair back and put the light in her face. They took x-rays and told her to open up real big and bite down. She did all of that with no problems. They put the little mirror in her mouth and looked around. They even poked all around in her mouth and on her teeth and she never once flinched.

The dentist and hygienist, everyone in there, were all just amazed at how well she acted and behaved. I made the appointment for her because I was concerned because she had a little discoloring on her two front teeth. But the dentist said that it was because all of the enamel didn't form there. She told Jacade not to be concerned about it.

She got a little goodie bag with a new toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and a couple of prizes. We're both so proud of her.

Panties!!!!

Millie has been bugging us all the time to wear panties. So finally, on Thursday when Jacade kept her, he let her put on panties. And she stayed dry until it was time to go to bed and we put a diaper back on to sleep.

On Friday, she wore panties all day. She only had 2 accidents. She just kept saying, "I wear panties like Mommy."

Over the weekend, Debbie (Mawt Maw) kept her so we could go on a little anniversary trip, and I am assuming that she was back in the diaper all weekend. Can't blame Mawt Maw though! But when we got home she was ready to put the panties back on.

Flashback Friday

I was looking through some old photos the other day because I wanted to show Millie that my mom used to rock me in the same rocking chair that I rock her in every night. So I came across this photo and was totally shocked.....that baby looks like Millie! How cool and sweet is that!

Whoa...Girl

Last night before bed, I was reading books to Millie in the living room. She kept zipping and unzipping the fleece sleeper I put her in. So we (me, Jacade, and MawtMaw) asked her if she was hot? And she said that she was, so she took it off herself.

She then started singing and doing her own dance routine. She was singing "Jesus Loves Me" and twirling around in a circle, faster and faster and then....she fell! And we were waiting and waiting and waiting for the wailing....and then we heard her say, "BOINK!" And she got back up and finished her dance routine with all of her fancy moves.

Never missed a beat!

Rebecca is thankful...

that Millie is NOT afraid of the thunder and lightning. And I think it's because we read over and over, Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? In the book, it says, "Boom, Boom, Boom, Mr. Brown makes thunder. Lightning goes Splat, Splat, Splat and it's very hard to make a noise like that."

This morning when it was lightning and thundering very loud, I went into Millie's room just to check on her and she was awake and was laughing. It would thunder and she would say, "That's loud." And I told her, "Wow, looks like Mr. Brown is really busy." And she was fine.

Graduated again

I think Millie has graduated from using the highchair. She no longer wants to sit in it; we have four chairs around the dining room table and she just sits in one of the armchairs. Of course, if we have company, the seating arrangement would have to change slightly. But I am thinking that maybe I should just pack it up. She is growing up way too fast.

Let's Paint!

One day this past week, I asked the press manager if I could get a roll of newspaper print for Millie to color on? And yes, he had one that he could give me. So I brought it home and Millie just had to paint.

It started out with the paintbrushes, then moved to her fingers, then finally her whole body! She had a great time though.

The Quilt Monster part 3

The Quilt Monster part 2

The Quilt Monster

Nana said that out of the blue, Millie got under this quilt and started being a monster! Too cute!

Got Game?

Millie spent a couple of days with Nana and Papa recently and Nana took these pictures of our "Future Ball Player." Could be basketball, softball, volleyball or soccer, but it sure looks like Millie had some fun!

Not wanted...

Last night, Millie was saying good night to Daddy and I went into our bedroom where they were. I came in and sat on the edge of the bed, and below is our dialogue.
Millie: Go.
Mommy: (with shocked look on my face) To where?
Millie: To the kitchen.
Mommy: What do you want me to do in the kitchen?
Millie: Clean up.

Thanks Millie. I then asked Jacade if he had told her to say that and he said no, and then told Millie - Good Job!

Ouch....Hot!!!

Last night, I was cooking one of those "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" meals, trying to use up small amounts of food we had in the fridge/freezer. I was using both the stove and the oven. I was pulling the food out of the oven and putting it on the plates when I looked up and Millie had reached her hand up and touched the *hot* griddle that I had just cooked a grilled cheese on. I screamed, she screamed and cried. I yelled for Jacade and he came down from the barn. She cried for awhile but we put water on it and then dipped it in some milk. She kept wanting us to kiss it, which we did.

Later on, we asked her, "Are you going to touch the stove again?" And she replied, "No."

Hopefully she has learned her lesson. It didn't burn it too bad; just a little blister on two of her fingertips. Sometimes lessons have to be learned the hard way.

Please be in prayer

I know many of you already have heard this news, but wanted to just let you know if hadn't heard, to please be in prayer for some dear friends of ours - Bryan and Samantha Kirby. I went to Woodward with them for many years.

They woke up Monday morning and went up to their rooms to wake them and realized that it was extremely hot in their bedroom (they have a bedroom upstairs). Their 2-yr.-old twin boys were unresponsive. Apparently, the heater was faulty and it came on during the night, and the temperature in their room was over 100 degrees.

I am still in shock over the whole situation. And it just breaks my heart. I can't even imagine, nor do I want to. But please, please, please keep this family in your prayers.

A memorial service has been set for Friday, September 25 at 5 p.m. in Carrollton.

Busy Weekend

My mind has gone blank....for a second.

This past weekend was a busy one at our house. We have been busy trying to get the "big house" organized and situated. It's tough work moving. So on Friday, I took the day off so I could get some things done while Millie was at the babysitter's house.

On Saturday, we just played around and I tried to organize things while Millie was napping. Then PaPaw came down to visit. We hung out with him and watched a movie.

Millie and I decided to finally paint the birdhouse that Nana and Papa gave Millie. We got all suited up and went outside to paint. She and I both had a great time (will post a picture of the final product later).

On Sunday, we all slept in and I got up and cooked us breakfast - scrambled eggs and Buckwheat pancakes with walnuts. Then Millie and I got ready for church so Jacade could spend a little bit more time with his dad. As soon as church was over, we drove home and picked Jacade up - we were going to the circus!!! (can you believe I forgot my camera?)

The circus was a lot of fun. I was given free tickets at the newspaper; so we took advantage of them. And Millie seemed to enjoy it too, although she got a little sleepy towards the end. We saw an "Educated Mule" that knew addition, subtraction and his numbers. We watched some very talented doggies perform all sorts of tricks; camels that performed tricks too, as well as three large elephants. It just amazed us that they could perform those tricks; so smart.

And the last event was the human cannonball. It was loud but didn't seem to scare Millie at all. We went back home and she fell asleep on the way home but wouldn't take a nap afterwards. Oh well. She stayed with Mawt Maw while Jacade and I went back to church for a special guest that they couldn't reveal who, because of security reasons.

When we arrived at 5:30 (church to start at 6) the church was packed. Overflowing. Everyone was very curious. Some people got there as early as 4:30 to get a good seat. We had to sit in the foyer because there wasn't any room inside.

Finally, the service began and after the music, they introduced the surprise visitor. It was the "43rd President of the United States - George W. Bush." And everyone believed it till he finally told everyone he was an imposter. He had a good testimony and the whole scene was too funny.

Millie blessed my heart last night

Mawt Maw spent the night because she rented her house and all the furniture is now over at the big house. And she was looking for some toilet paper. I told her to ask Jacade; he's put it up somewhere.

Rewind....to a couple of days ago....Jacade put a roll of toilet paper on Millie's holder in her bathroom and then put another one in the cabinet and told her that when she ran out, she would have another roll handy.

Back to last night, Mawt Maw is still looking for toilet paper and Millie hears that. She said, "I've got some." And she ran into her bathroom, looked in the cabinet and got out her extra roll and took it to Mawt Maw.

How awesome is that?!?! It definitely blessed my heart.

Strange Combination

Last night for dinner I was going to make tuna sandwiches but decided at the last minute to make a garden salad and just put the tuna on top. It was an "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" salad. Mixed greens, tomatoes, pickled beets, chickpeas, avocado, sliced apple and tuna. And no, Millie doesn't eat salads yet. But I did put on her plate some chickpeas, tuna and sliced apple, and she ate it all. What was funny was that she was picking the skins off of the chickpeas. But, she ate it. Can't complain with that.

Sleeping Update

Well, this weekend, Millie rolled out of the bed, twice. It definitely startled her and she cried, but went back to sleep once we got her back in the bed. Every time we would put her in her bed at night she would say, "Don't roll out?" And we would say, "Yes, don't roll out of the bed." And then she would say, "Not get up til it's light outside?" Yes, don't get out. And she would wake up in the morning, come out of her room and say, "It's light outside." Yes, Millie, you can get up now.

Sleeping Update...

Thursday, September 10 - Night 4 : Jacade got Millie ready for bed last night because I went to Henry Medical Center to see one of our friends, Shelley, and her new baby boy, Jackson. He was born 09/09/09. He is a healthy little guy and so cute. When I got home, I went in to say good night and talked with Millie for a few minutes. Then she and I rocked for one song and I put her to bed. And she fussed for a minute, but stayed in her bed. She asked/told me: "Not get up til it's light outside?" And I said yes, if it's dark outside, you need to be sleeping because you need the rest. So she slept til 7:10 this morning and found us outside having a cup of coffee.

She's Graduated!

Yes, that's right. Millie has graduated from her baby crib to a big girl bed! And she has done great, so far.

Monday, September 7 - Night 1 : Put Millie to bed, put pillows on the floor on one side and lots of comforters on the other side, closed the door and she slept til 5 a.m. and came in the room with us.

Tuesday, September 8 - Night 2 : Put Millie to bed, put pillows on the floor on one side and lots of comforters on the other side, closed the door and she slept til 5:40 a.m. and came in the room with us. But I took her back to her room, tucked her in and turned on her music and she went back to sleep til 7:30 a.m.

Wednesday, September 9 - Night 3 : Same routine and she slept til 5 a.m. Took her back to her room, tucked her in and she slept til 8:00 a.m.

She is doing a lot better than I had imagined, ever. It's like she was ready to sleep in a regular bed. And she is really enjoying her new room. It's very spacious; plenty of room for all sorts of playtime. She also has a big walk-in closet and her own bathroom.
