The Quilt Monster
Nana said that out of the blue, Millie got under this quilt and started being a monster! Too cute!

Not wanted...
Last night, Millie was saying good night to Daddy and I went into our bedroom where they were. I came in and sat on the edge of the bed, and below is our dialogue.
Millie: Go.
Mommy: (with shocked look on my face) To where?
Millie: To the kitchen.
Mommy: What do you want me to do in the kitchen?
Millie: Clean up.
Thanks Millie. I then asked Jacade if he had told her to say that and he said no, and then told Millie - Good Job!

Ouch....Hot!!!
Last night, I was cooking one of those "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" meals, trying to use up small amounts of food we had in the fridge/freezer. I was using both the stove and the oven. I was pulling the food out of the oven and putting it on the plates when I looked up and Millie had reached her hand up and touched the *hot* griddle that I had just cooked a grilled cheese on. I screamed, she screamed and cried. I yelled for Jacade and he came down from the barn. She cried for awhile but we put water on it and then dipped it in some milk. She kept wanting us to kiss it, which we did.
Later on, we asked her, "Are you going to touch the stove again?" And she replied, "No."
Hopefully she has learned her lesson. It didn't burn it too bad; just a little blister on two of her fingertips. Sometimes lessons have to be learned the hard way.

Please be in prayer
I know many of you already have heard this news, but wanted to just let you know if hadn't heard, to please be in prayer for some dear friends of ours - Bryan and Samantha Kirby. I went to Woodward with them for many years.
They woke up Monday morning and went up to their rooms to wake them and realized that it was extremely hot in their bedroom (they have a bedroom upstairs). Their 2-yr.-old twin boys were unresponsive. Apparently, the heater was faulty and it came on during the night, and the temperature in their room was over 100 degrees.
I am still in shock over the whole situation. And it just breaks my heart. I can't even imagine, nor do I want to. But please, please, please keep this family in your prayers.
A memorial service has been set for Friday, September 25 at 5 p.m. in Carrollton.

Busy Weekend
My mind has gone blank....for a second.
This past weekend was a busy one at our house. We have been busy trying to get the "big house" organized and situated. It's tough work moving. So on Friday, I took the day off so I could get some things done while Millie was at the babysitter's house.
On Saturday, we just played around and I tried to organize things while Millie was napping. Then PaPaw came down to visit. We hung out with him and watched a movie.
Millie and I decided to finally paint the birdhouse that Nana and Papa gave Millie. We got all suited up and went outside to paint. She and I both had a great time (will post a picture of the final product later).
On Sunday, we all slept in and I got up and cooked us breakfast - scrambled eggs and Buckwheat pancakes with walnuts. Then Millie and I got ready for church so Jacade could spend a little bit more time with his dad. As soon as church was over, we drove home and picked Jacade up - we were going to the circus!!! (can you believe I forgot my camera?)
The circus was a lot of fun. I was given free tickets at the newspaper; so we took advantage of them. And Millie seemed to enjoy it too, although she got a little sleepy towards the end. We saw an "Educated Mule" that knew addition, subtraction and his numbers. We watched some very talented doggies perform all sorts of tricks; camels that performed tricks too, as well as three large elephants. It just amazed us that they could perform those tricks; so smart.
And the last event was the human cannonball. It was loud but didn't seem to scare Millie at all. We went back home and she fell asleep on the way home but wouldn't take a nap afterwards. Oh well. She stayed with Mawt Maw while Jacade and I went back to church for a special guest that they couldn't reveal who, because of security reasons.
When we arrived at 5:30 (church to start at 6) the church was packed. Overflowing. Everyone was very curious. Some people got there as early as 4:30 to get a good seat. We had to sit in the foyer because there wasn't any room inside.
Finally, the service began and after the music, they introduced the surprise visitor. It was the "43rd President of the United States - George W. Bush." And everyone believed it till he finally told everyone he was an imposter. He had a good testimony and the whole scene was too funny.

Millie blessed my heart last night
Mawt Maw spent the night because she rented her house and all the furniture is now over at the big house. And she was looking for some toilet paper. I told her to ask Jacade; he's put it up somewhere.
Rewind....to a couple of days ago....Jacade put a roll of toilet paper on Millie's holder in her bathroom and then put another one in the cabinet and told her that when she ran out, she would have another roll handy.
Back to last night, Mawt Maw is still looking for toilet paper and Millie hears that. She said, "I've got some." And she ran into her bathroom, looked in the cabinet and got out her extra roll and took it to Mawt Maw.
How awesome is that?!?! It definitely blessed my heart.

Strange Combination
Last night for dinner I was going to make tuna sandwiches but decided at the last minute to make a garden salad and just put the tuna on top. It was an "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" salad. Mixed greens, tomatoes, pickled beets, chickpeas, avocado, sliced apple and tuna. And no, Millie doesn't eat salads yet. But I did put on her plate some chickpeas, tuna and sliced apple, and she ate it all. What was funny was that she was picking the skins off of the chickpeas. But, she ate it. Can't complain with that.

Sleeping Update
Well, this weekend, Millie rolled out of the bed, twice. It definitely startled her and she cried, but went back to sleep once we got her back in the bed. Every time we would put her in her bed at night she would say, "Don't roll out?" And we would say, "Yes, don't roll out of the bed." And then she would say, "Not get up til it's light outside?" Yes, don't get out. And she would wake up in the morning, come out of her room and say, "It's light outside." Yes, Millie, you can get up now.

Sleeping Update...
Thursday, September 10 - Night 4 : Jacade got Millie ready for bed last night because I went to Henry Medical Center to see one of our friends, Shelley, and her new baby boy, Jackson. He was born 09/09/09. He is a healthy little guy and so cute. When I got home, I went in to say good night and talked with Millie for a few minutes. Then she and I rocked for one song and I put her to bed. And she fussed for a minute, but stayed in her bed. She asked/told me: "Not get up til it's light outside?" And I said yes, if it's dark outside, you need to be sleeping because you need the rest. So she slept til 7:10 this morning and found us outside having a cup of coffee.

She's Graduated!
Yes, that's right. Millie has graduated from her baby crib to a big girl bed! And she has done great, so far.
Monday, September 7 - Night 1 : Put Millie to bed, put pillows on the floor on one side and lots of comforters on the other side, closed the door and she slept til 5 a.m. and came in the room with us.
Tuesday, September 8 - Night 2 : Put Millie to bed, put pillows on the floor on one side and lots of comforters on the other side, closed the door and she slept til 5:40 a.m. and came in the room with us. But I took her back to her room, tucked her in and turned on her music and she went back to sleep til 7:30 a.m.
Wednesday, September 9 - Night 3 : Same routine and she slept til 5 a.m. Took her back to her room, tucked her in and she slept til 8:00 a.m.
She is doing a lot better than I had imagined, ever. It's like she was ready to sleep in a regular bed. And she is really enjoying her new room. It's very spacious; plenty of room for all sorts of playtime. She also has a big walk-in closet and her own bathroom.

Future Farmer of America
A couple of weekends ago, the three of us drove up to LaFayette to visit PaPaw and Mimi. On the way up we stopped at Lowrey Farms in Rome, which is a fruit/vegetable stand and they also have old tractors and trucks. We had been there just a few minutes and this older gentleman pulled up and asked Millie if she would like to see some more tractors? So he opened up his "museum" of old farm equipment and let us put her on the tractors and take pictures.

Can't Catch Me....
One evening after a fabulous dinner, we went out to the open area of greenspace in front of Mops and Pops' house and voted to play TAG! We were all running and we all had so much fun. We definitely made a memory that night.
(will post in a couple of batches because there are so many great shots)
North Carolina pics
I am really, really, REALLY late in posting these but wanted you to see all the fun we had in North Carolina when Millie and I went up in July. We spent a week with Mops and Pops, Aunt Lexi and Ryan. Millie really had fun seeing and playing with her cousin, Ryan as well as Mops and Aunt Lexi. We were busy, busy, busy the whole time.
