Just a couple of cute pics

"sweet"

"mischievous"

"cheese"

Millie has been wearing hats a little more these days. The other night she put on this hat so I just had to grab the camera to snap a few.

Dinner at the lake

A couple of weeks ago, PaPaw (Mike) came down to visit. We drove out to Jackson Lake to eat at Lakeview Restaurant at Martin's Marina. Millie liked watching the geese on the water as well as looking at the fish in the lake. It was also prime-time for picture time! And check out her little dress. It's from Mimi and PaPaw; she looks so cute in it. Pink is her color!

My dog

Millie has started telling everybody, including us, that Bella is "her dog." She'll walk up to Bella and say, "My dog." And other times she will say, "Daddy's dog. Mommy's dog."

Not a big girl

Here lately, if you say something to Millie about how she is such a big girl, she says, "No, baby." She doesn't want to be a big girl. She has resorted to wanting to be a baby. Not sure what that is all about.

A couple of sweet things Millie does

I wanted to make sure I recorded these things that Millie does that are so sweet.

If you have a boo-boo and tell Millie about it, she asks, "Kiss it?" And then she'll kiss your boo-boo (sometimes lots of times). Too sweet.

Sometimes at night, she will be getting ready for bed and she'll give me a kiss, then an Eskimo kiss, and then a butterfly kiss. When she's doing the butterfly kiss, she also whispers something (not sure what) in your ear. And she does the same thing to Jacade. Too sweet.

When I am getting her dressed and there are buttons in the back, I'll tell her that I need to button the buttons. She then will hold her hair up so it's out of my way. Wow. Too sweet.

This post is for Kevin (and Cassie)

The past two times that we have visited with Kevin and Cassie, Millie has found one of Sallie Rose's ducks that quacks (loudly). And so Uncle Kevin walks around the room acting like a duck. And every time the music stops, he would stop. And Millie would just laugh and giggle.

Last night, I asked Millie if she could do the "Kevin Dance" and she walked in a big circle around the room acting like a duck, and quacking like a duck. It was so cute!

Water Showers

Playtime's over. Getting hosed off.

Okay, got this foot clean.

Got to get this dirt off my hand.

Doing the left foot now.

Now I have to do the right foot.

Wow, my feet are really dirty.

Wow, look how dirty my shoes are.

Check out her mud puddle!

Making lots of mud!

Having fun with the water hose!

Up in the air it goes!

One day last week, I let Millie play with the water hose and she had so much fun. She pointed it up towards the sky and just laughed when it fell back down on her. And she liked to try to spray Bella and watch Bella run real fast to get away from the water. She then soon had a big puddle of water/mud and that's where the fun began. She finally just sat down in the mud puddle and tried to clean off her feet. Problem was that she would get one foot cleaned and then set it down to clean the other one and then realized that the previously cleaned foot was dirty again. It kept her very entertained, to say the least.
The pictures are in reverse order...

Pretend vs. Real

Last night, after coaxing Millie to eat more of her dinner, she and I shared an Edy's Frozen Fruit Bar - Mixed Berry. Daddy came into the room and sat down to watch her many faces as she enjoyed the cold, tart bar. And then she said, "Daddy, bite?" And Daddy said, "Yes, thank you." And he took the bar and acted like he was chowing down on the bar and then kissed it and gave it back to her. She looked at him, handed it back and said, "Take bite." She knew that he was just pretending and she wanted him to really take a bite. How fun is that?

What color flip-flops would you like?

Millie (like her mommy) notices what kind of shoes (and if you have on shoes) of everyone she encounters. And she is really into flip-flops these days, although she doesn't have a pair just yet. But oftentimes, I will be wearing my sandals and she'll see my flip-flops and insist that I put them on instead.

So last night I asked her, "Millie, what color flip-flops would you like me to get you?" And her answer was, "Pink."

So there you have it. I'm soon going to be on a mission to find her a pair of pink flip-flops that have the band around the back of the heel.

Millie ate something new

Jacade and I were given a gift certificate to Gritz Restaurant in Forsyth, and decided to use it Saturday night. (Gritz was gracious enough to allow us to use the coupon b/c the coupon expired in 2006). Mawt Maw watched Millie so we could go out for Date Night.

We arrived early in the evening, which was great, because there really wasn't anyone there yet. The atmosphere and ambience were great, as were all the artwork on the walls. We started off with an appetizer, Fried Green Tomatoes with shrimp. We then ordered our drinks. Jacade got a Stella Artois and I got a Lemon Drop Martini. For our entrees, Jacade had steak and shrimp, and I ordered grilled salmon with sauteed spinach with a provolone cheese sauce and potatoes. Our meals came with their house salad. There wasn't much to the salad, but it was so delicious (lettuce that had been tossed with a vidalia onion dressing with cranberries and spiced pecans). Needless to say, everything was delicious and I had to take home the rest of my dinner.

Which is where the post title comes in. On Sunday after church, Millie and I shared the leftovers. And yes, she actually ate several small pieces of grilled salmon. Yes!!! Another thing she likes. I was so excited!!!

I'm having issues with the blog - FIXED NOW!

If the blog looks a little different, that's because it is. I am having problems with some of the HTML codes and Photobucket. Okay, it's all fixed now. I figured it out - woo-hoo!

Millie's French Braid

I was finally able to get a couple of quick shots of Millie's French Braid that Ms. Andrea did the other day. I can't believe that Millie sat still for that long. It looks so cute on her and now she looks like a little girl. My baby is growing up. Exciting but sad at the same time.

Millie's two-piece

NeNe (Grandma Sara) gave Millie a 2-piece bathing suit for her birthday and Millie wanted to try it on. 2 problems with it though: it was too small and it was a 2-piece. The whole time (which was short) that Millie had on the suit, she kept trying to pull down the top. She didn't quite get the whole concept. I guess we will have to stick with a one-piece bathing suit!

Millie's Birthday Party

We had a fairly low-key birthday party for Millie on Saturday, May 16. She wore her birthday outfit (most of the day) until she got chocolate cake on it. Her cousins, Sara and Will, came and kept her entertained. Also present were Nana and Papa, Mawt Maw, NeNe, Aunt Noalee, Aunt Bonita and Jacade and I. Since the theme was polka dots, I made a homemade chocolate cake (the chocolate cake) and decorated it with M&M's. We also had shrimp, homemade salsa and a fruit tray (courtesy of Nana and Papa) and sweet tea. Millie got some a neat ABC toy and clothes (lots of clothes). It's always so hard to resist clothes for little girls.

Millie's Levi's and French-Braid

I dressed Millie this morning in some yellow Levi shorts that Nana and Papa gave her for her birthday and the first thing Millie said was, "Levi's." Whoa, how'd she know that?

And last night I got a text from Jacade: wait till you see Millie's hair. I was a little nervous; did she somehow get a hold of some scissors or what exactly happened. But I got home and Ms. Andrea had french-braided her hair and it looked so darling. Now, I just have to learn how to do all those cool hair tricks.

Millie is in the "Me Do" stage

Just about every time, Millie wants to do it herself. I know it's normal part of her development, but sometimes it is just plain frustrating. Because sometimes we are in a hurry, but Millie just has to do it!

Yesterday afternoon, she was sitting on the kitchen counter and she was helping me fix a snack. So she helped me pour the goldfish crackers out of the bag. Then we moved on to the Craisins. I opened the big bag. And she got mad. She closed the bag and then re-opened it...herself. Too funny.

She wants to climb into the bathtub herself, dress herself, wipe herself when it is diaper change time and if she could figure it out completely, she would probably change her own diaper, put the lotion on herself, open the refrigerator door.

I'm thankful, though, that she is becoming independent. It's fun and funny at the same time. This morning she even dressed herself, all by herself, after I told her that everyone else was dressed. And she can even, most times, get the shoes on the right feet.

What Millie's been up to lately

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. I've been meaning to, but life just keeps happening!

Millie just keeps growing up. She is talking very clearly and understands a lot.

Last night she really surprised me. I was going to scramble her an egg for dinner while I fixed us some tuna, but she wanted to try the tuna. So I gave her a small piece, expecting her to spit it out. No. She asked for more. WHOA! And then I was eating some homemade beef jerky that was a little spicy. Of course she wanted to try it and she liked it too. So for dinner she ate albacore tuna (plain), corn off-the-cob, and 3 dried plums.

She spent the latter part of last week and the weekend with Nana and Papa. And they bragged on her saying that she slept so well and ate just about everything put in front of her. We think that they just gave her ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner, b/c a lot of times, she pushes food away at our house. And she hasn't been sleeping that great either. Of course, she is a smart baby and she's probably figured out that once she starts fussing and crying, someone will be there to pick her up (shame on Daddy and Mawt Maw). Just kidding, I have gone in a few times too.

And Nana and Papa taught Millie a cute little game (if you want to call it that). She thinks it is so funny. What you do is, you act like you are falling asleep. And then Millie says, "Wake up!" And you wake up, all excited and refreshed. She just laughs and laughs!!

She still won't eat cherry tomatoes, although she ate one-half of one yesterday. But she does like chicken now (finally) and now loves, drum roll please.....BROCCOLI! Nana and Papa got her to eat it first and now she loves it.

She likes to take your nose and then asks you if you'd like it back. Of course I want it back. I would look awfully funny without it and would miss out on so many smells.

She still loves to read books. She just got a few for her birthday. She especially loves one of her new books, Silly Sally. Silly Sally, walking backwards, upside down. On the way, she met a pig. A silly pig, they danced a jig. On each page, Millie has to turn the book upside down so she can look at Silly Sally right side up.

I'll post more things later. Got to get back to work!!
