Hangin' by the river
On Saturday, July 4th, Jacade, Millie and I went with a group of our friends to Jim and Diane's cabin below Pike County. The group consisted of: James Willis, Doug Krepps, Doug, Pam, Lucinda and Marsh Hollberg and Jim, Diane and Daysha Boles.
We had a great time and the drive in to the cabin was, needless to say, extremely bumpy and rough. You had to have 4wheel drive to get there (or else you would have torn up your car). And Millie slept the whole way in. We couldn't believe it. I was sitting beside her trying to hold her head and keep it from bouncing around. She was a tired baby.
We ate lunch - cooked out and had hot dogs and tomato sandwiches, pasta salad, chips, and cherries. Everything was yummy. Then we had some delicious watermelon.
Some of us chose to walk up the mountain (like me) and some chose to drive. Either way, the view was beautiful.
And on the way back, we stopped by the river and Millie got in for a few seconds with Daddy and Daysha. She also got in the creek too, which was really cold. But Millie didn't seem to mind.
Our trip to Callaway Gardens
Sorry, I'm a little late in posting these pictures. But we had a really great time when we went to Callaway Gardens, Friday, July 3. Debbie (Mawt Maw), Aunt Noalee, Millie, Jacade and myself left around 9ish and were ready for a full-day adventure.
When we first started walking around, Jacade let Millie put her feet in the little creek. From then on out, every time she saw water, she wanted to get in.
We looked at a lot of pretty flowers, watched the fish and the turtles, saw the Birds of Prey show, looked at and fed Koi fish, went to the Butterfly Center, walked through the forest, and rode the trolley.
One interesting note: while we were walking in the forest, Millie showed a fear of the tree roots. It was the strangest thing. She wouldn't walk over them; you had to pick her up. Not sure what that was all about.

Millie's a fish!
This past week Millie has been taking swimming lessons for 30 minutes each day. One day this week, she didn't last very long because the lessons were right during naptime, and she was just so tired. But she finished well and now we just need to practice.
Here are some pictures that Jacade took today, her last day. Can't wait to get in the pool with her in two weeks when we go to North Carolina! Look out fish, here comes Millie!

Helping Daddy!
Two weekends ago, Jacade was washing all the trucks (we are trying to sell them) and decided to let Millie help (and Mommy too). And don't you remember that when you were a child and you helped wash the car, that you always got sprayed a time or two, or three or four. We went ahead and put Millie in her swimsuit - we knew she would get soaked. She had a lot of fun and wanted to climb into the soap bucket...which she successfully accomplished. Memories in the making...

New banner
I was just looking at the banner for Millie's blog and realized how different and grown-up she looks now. So I felt it was time to change the photo.

Butterfly Dress
Mawt Maw bought this adorable pillowcase dress for Millie about a month ago. It's big enough that she will be able to wear it a long time. She'll be able to wear it as a dress, as a tunic, as a jumper....

Millie loves to read
I think Millie would just assume to read and look at books all day than to play with toys. Of course a lot of her toys are put up right now, but she LOVES to READ books! And I think she has a lot of them memorized because we have read them so much. It's fun to watch and hear your read her books while sitting in her room, either on the floor, in her crib, or at her table. I believe that's why her language skills are as advanced as they are.
And she is participating in a program at the library for the summer for reading. They record how much time they have been reading and then get prizes for it. She is now in the 30-hr bracket.
I think she's definitely on to something....she's picked a great hobby.

God is good, God is great!
We've been teaching Millie the food prayer when we sit down to eat every night. We all hold hands (typically) and Jacade and/or I will say each part and get Millie to repeat. Last night Jacade said, "Millie, why don't you say the prayer tonight?"
So she said, "God good, God great. Jabber, jabber, jabber. Food. Thank You. Amen." It was so cute.
Stay tuned for a video of it. Definitely want to record that moment. So sweet.

New Suit!
Two weekends ago (Father's Day weekend), Mike a.k.a PaPaw came down to visit for the weekend. With him, he brought a present for Millie. Mimi saw the pictures of Millie in her 2-pc. bathing suit and the sour look on Millie's face, so she decided to find her a bathing suit that would fit - a 1-pc.
It fit perfectly and Millie loves it! Here's some pictures of her modeling her new Baby Phat bathing suit.

Let's Color!
Millie loves to go outside (period) and play with her chalk. And she really likes to take the chalk and color herself. Who knew...
