Green Eggs & Ham (sort-of)
On Saturday morning (a couple of Saturdays ago) we had Green Eggs & Ham (well, bacon) for breakfast and read the book too! Jacade had brought home a few green shelled eggs from work (one of his bosses raises chickens that lay green eggs) and then after I cracked the eggs, I added a little green food coloring.

Mac-n-Cheese pizza!
A couple of weeks ago, we had Date Night at home with Millie and the task was to make a homemade pizza. We asked Millie what she wanted on her pizza and she replied, "Macaroni and cheese." So we went to Publix Friday afternoon and bought the fixin's for the pizza - homemade pizza dough from Publix, ground beef, onions, mushrooms, pepperoni, cheese, pizza sauce, and a box of SpongeBob SquarePants macaroni & cheese.
We cooked the pizza and while it was cooking, we finished watching a really good movie - Ponyo. You should check it out sometime. The pizza finished and it was actually really good, even with the mac-n-cheese. But guess who wouldn't eat any pizza? Yes, Millie didn't want any pizza. Go figure. It was good though and we watched the movie Up! before drifting off to sleep.

Dinnertime!
Last night, Millie fixed dinner for everyone, all by herself. She picked out four of her bowls, four of her spoons, and four of her cups. She then pushed the chair over to the counter, climbed up and got the box of Cheerios out of the cabinet. She poured everyone a bowl of cereal. Then Mawt Maw came home and she ran to the door, saying, "Mawt Maw, are you hungry? It's time for dinner!"
So all of us sat down, she said the blessing and we all enjoyed our bowl of Cheerios together. Such a big girl.....

My big girl
Over the weekend, we told Millie to go get dressed. And she likes to dress herself a lot of times, all by herself. Pink capri pants, a blue shirt, socks with ladybugs on them, princess sandals and a red bow! This was the results....

I'm a Snuggle Bunny
We were trying to decide what to dress Millie up for Halloween this year. To be honest, it's not an important holiday to me and I don't really see the point in spending a lot of money on an outfit she will wear for a few hours. We toyed around with the idea of being a princess and at one point, she wanted to be Kitara from Avatar, the Last Airbender. But all of those costumes were $20-30 - definitely out of my budget and price range.
Then, I was putting her to bed one night and it dawned on me.... A Snuggle Bunny! And you might ask, what is a Snuggle Bunny? When we put Millie to bed, we read a few books, then turn on the music and lie in the bed with her for a few songs. And we call that Snugglebunnying! I mentioned it to Millie and she thought it was a great idea.
My wheels started turning about how to put this costume together. I thought about getting a bunny suit and putting a blanket around her. I was talking to Lexi about it and she suggested just putting her in a blanket sleeper and putting a pair of bunny ears on her. PERFECT! Guess what? We had all of the components for a great costume, right in her room! And it didn't cost me a dime.
She was an adorable Snuggle Bunny for sure! We went to Hallelujah Night at Rock Springs Friday night to eat corndogs and play the games to get candy. Millie wasn't too interested in standing in the lines to play a game because she had her eye on something bigger and better - inflatables! She did play a few games but decided to jump and climb up the big slide. She had a great time.
At one point, she and her friend, Abigayle, switched costumes (very typical of the two). Millie transformed into a butterfly and Abs became a bunny rabbit!

Big enough for a belt
Nana was sweet enough to sew some little belts for Millie to wear with her school uniform. Here's just a quick shot of one of her new belts. Of course, trying to keep her shirt tucked in may be a different story altogether!

We belong in the zoo!
Back at the end of September, Millie went on a field trip with some of her classmates to the Atlanta Zoo. She and her best friend, Abigayle, were pretty much inseparable the entire day. They loved seeing all the different animals and petting the animals too. They both rode the train and the carousel together, then played on the playground.
Smashed beans are better
One of Millie's favorite foods is black beans. She's loved them since she was a toddler. And what's better than black beans? Smashed black beans!

Native American Festival
Debbie (Mawt Maw) took Millie to Indian Springs for the Native American Festival. Millie enjoyed the dancers and even got her face painted.
Look Up In the Sky!
A little while ago (I know, I'm behind on posting), we went to an air show in Williamson. We arrived a little late (somewhat to our advantage b/c we didn't have to pay parking) but we still got to see some of the planes flying. Millie and I went in and toured one of the planes there. All in all, we all had fun!

Grown-up lady
I just had to post this so I would remember it...
This morning, Millie brought me a piece of paper that is actually some artwork that she created in 2009 (I'm currently going through the big stash of papers that she has made in the last year). So she handed it to me and I said thank you. Then I told her to go put it away.
And she said, "Where shall I put it?"
Did that grown-up word "shall" just come out of my 3-yr. old daughter's mouth? I couldn't believe it.

Just thinking about how much she's grown
I was just sitting here at work thinking about how much Millie has grown in such a short period of time. You can actually carry on a lengthy conversation with her and her vocabulary is extraordinary (hey, I'm a little biased). Sometimes I forget that she is only 3 years old.
I love to ask her different questions to hear the response. She has such a big imagination, and just thinks of ideas off the cuff. And she is also very thoughtful. Every time we go to a public restroom, after she has washed and dried her hands, she always wants to get the paper towels ready for the next person. Of course, children practice what they see (and trust me, I'm not bragging, but I do like to do that too).
Some of her favorite foods right now are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, black beans (she has loved those since she was a baby), fruit (which I'm learning is rare for some kids), Kashi breakfast bars, chocolate milk, cereal, oatmeal (dry and cooked), hard-boiled eggs, juice and water (yes, she still gets it diluted because she asks for it like that).
Here are two pictures of Millie in her school uniform....one when she started Rock Springs Christian Academy in January, 2010 and the other on her 2nd day of school.
Grown a lot, in more ways than one....

Belated Birthday Party
On Saturday, July 24, I finally threw a little belated 3rd birthday party for Millie. She was convinced that her birthday was not complete until she had a cake. So I made some little cupcakes for her Saturday morning and we decorated the kitchen. She set the table and helped arrange all the plates, napkins, cups and utensils (which she picked out, by the way....Disney Princesses).
Then her friends arrived....her cousins, Sara and Will, Autumn (she is the daughter of Tammy, one of my coworkers) and then, Abigayle (she is Millie's friend from the babysitter's house). They all played peacefully in Millie's room. We then had cupcakes and ice cream.
After a little more playing and opening a few presents, everyone piled into their cars and we all drove to Leapin' Lizards, an inflatable party place in Griffin). All the kids (and some of the adults, too) geared up with their socks on and played, played, played.
Everyone took a break and played some of the video games in another area. All that playing though causes one to be thirsty. And who doesn't love a bright, sugary, cold drink?
All in all, I think Millie and her party-goers had a great time. Until next year....
